Midrand, 20 March 2025 – The APRM Continental Secretariat held a heartfelt farewell party for Mr. Ferdinand Katendeko, affectionately known as “Mr. Ferd” by his colleagues. Mr Katendeko is retiring at the end of the month after 18 years of dedicated service.

Throughout his career at APRM, Mr. Katendeko held various roles within the Continental Secretariat, including Research Analyst, Country Coordinator, Chief of Staff, and Acting Director of Operations. These positions allowed him to gain a deep understanding of both the challenges and opportunities involved in working at Africa's premier institution for promoting good governance in Africa. Colleagues who have worked closely with Mr. Katendeko shared heartfelt testimonies and anecdotes, recalling his kind-hearted nature, calm demeanour in times of crisis, and robust spirited approach to his work.

Mr. Ferd. was appreciated by staff for sharing his experience and wisdom with others. He has adapted to many changes over the years and has, at times, sacrificed of his personal time when job demanded it. He has been a mentor and a friend to many.

Ambassador Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre, CEO of the APRM Continental Secretariat, recognised Mr Katendeko’ s exemplary service to the APRM, especially in facilitating a smooth transition following her appointment by the APR Forum of Heads of State and Government in February 2023. She humorously equated the nine months she worked with him to a baby’s delivery, marking a significant period of collaboration. On behalf of the Secretariat, she presented him with a certificate of appreciation and a portrait, which Mr. Katendeko unveiled to the gathered staff, who extended their well-wishes for the next chapter of his life.

He expressed gratitude to his colleagues in the Directorate for their support during his tenure and encouraged the staff to continue nurturing the APRM for its continued growth and success.

Following the formal ceremony, the staff shared a meal and exhibited their dancing skills, with Mr. Katendeko himself taking the lead and opening the dance floor in a lively celebration of his contributions.
