Centurion – 12 March 2026 – The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (DCP/AUC), H.E. Selma Malika Haddadi, paid a courtesy visit to the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Continental Secretariat in Centurion, South Africa, where she engaged in talks with the APRM Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Her Excellency, Ambassador Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre, and senior management. The visit formed part of the DCP’s official mission to South Africa and discussions focused on strengthening the strategic role of the APRM within the AU system, particularly in the areas of governance monitoring, early warning and conflict prevention.
Ambassador Rose‑Quatre welcomed the DCP/AUC and expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that the engagement reflects the growing strategic role of the APRM within the African Union governance architecture. The APRM CEO emphasised the importance of the Mechanism in advancing peace and stability on the continent, noting that the APRM continues to serve as a key instrument for conflict prevention through governance oversight and peer learning among Participating States.
During the engagement, H.E. Selma Malika Haddadi congratulated Ambassador Rose-Quatre on moving into new premises and commended the Continental Secretariat for its continued leadership and qualitative outputs in strengthening governance on the continent. She noted that AU Member States continue to express confidence in the work of the APRM and its growing impact across the continent. The DCP also congratulated the APRM on the progress made towards achieving “Universal Accession” of all AU Member States to the APRM.
The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to continued collaboration on advancing the objectives of Agenda 2063 through strengthened governance, peer learning and constructive engagement with AU Member States.
