The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Continental Secretariat Chief Executive Officer, Amb. Marie-Antoinette Rose Quatre, will lead a delegation to the United States from 17 to 26 September 2024. The mission aims to showcase APRM’s governance work and share its experiences while building new partnerships.

This initiative aligns with Decision Assembly/AU/Dec. 631 (XXVIII) from the 28th African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government, which calls for the APRM to take its model and insights on the global stage for benchmarking and to enhance the international recognition of the Mechanism.

During this mission, the APRM will co-host events in Washington D.C. and New York City on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79), which will be held under the theme: “Leaving no one behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations.”

In Washington D.C., on 17-18 September 2024, the APRM will host:

  • A High-Level Private Breakfast and a Working Group Meeting on Unconstitutional Changes of Government, in collaboration with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP).
  • A co-hosted meeting with USAID focusing on governance implementation on 18 September 2024.
  • In New York City, on 20 September 2024, the APRM will hold three high-profile side events:
  • A High-Level Side Event on Africa’s Global Voice and Multilateralism, convened under the theme “Governance Challenges in Africa: Are We Winning the Battle?”, in collaboration with the Africa Governance Institute (AGI) and TrustAfrica, from 09:30 to 13:00.
  • A High-Level Side Event on “Building Foresight Competencies and Networks to Empower Youth in Africa,” in collaboration with the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) and the Permanent Missions of Nigeria and Uganda, from 09:00 to 12:00.
  • A High-Level Dialogue on the “Establishment of the Africa Credit Rating Agency (AfCRA),” hosted at the AU Permanent Mission, focusing on gathering insights, building consensus, and forging strategic partnerships for AfCRA, from 13:00 to 14:30.

Additionally, Amb. Rose Quatre will participate in various side events from 20-26 September, including the UN Summit of the Future, the 20th Anniversary of the UN Global Compact Principle Ten, and Unstoppable Africa. She will also engage in bilateral meetings with key stakeholders and partners.
