The official launch of the Country Review Report for Cote d'Ivoire was held on Monday 12 December 2022 at the Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire Abidjan. The ceremony was chaired by the Vice-President of the Republic, H.E. Tiémoko Méyliet KONE, in the presence of the Minister Delegate, H.E. Kacou Houadja ADOM, representing the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and the Diaspora.

The Chairperson of the APRM National Governing Commission, Mr David Musa Soro, presented the APR process that led to the production of the Country Review Report. He said the National Governing Commission was honoured by the completion of this stage in the APRM base review process. "Cote d'Ivoire, under the guidance of the President of the Republic, successfully carried out its self-assessment, thus fulfilling the first stage of its commitments in accordance with APRM principles", he added.

Speaking next, Prof. Eddy MALOKA, CEO of the APRM Continental Secretariat, recalled that the base Review Mission in Cote d'Ivoire was carried out satisfactorily in 2018. This, according to him, marked the beginning of the implementation of the APRM National Plan of Action, which is as an integral part of the Country Review Report.

The Minister Delegate, Mr. Kacou Houadja ADOM, representing the Minister of State, Madam Kandia CAMARA, APRM Focal Point in Cote d’Ivoire, congratulated Dr. Chérif RAHMANI for the quality of the work done, and presented the report as the result of concerted efforts by several African experts.

According to Mr ADOM, the launch of Cote d'Ivoire Country Review Report provides an excellent opportunity to attempt to take stock of good governance in Cote d'Ivoire. The country committed to submit itself to a permanent assessment based on 20 performance indicators divided into three main categories, including 8 indicators of economic freedom, 6 indicators of good governance and 6 indicators of investment in human capital. "This is a good opportunity for us to express our pride in belonging to the APRM family and to confirm our strong commitment to carrying out the various stages of the APRM Base Review", he concluded.

For Dr. Chérif RAHMANI, the Lead Panel Member for Cote d'Ivoire, the country has achieved major progress since the political and military crisis. The consolidation of this progress, as well as the strengthening of national reconciliation, peace and stability efforts represent the foundation for its sustainable economic and social development.

The Vice-President of the Republic, H.E. Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, expressed satisfaction with the conclusions of the report.
"In general, the State of Cote d’Ivoire continues to make progress in the area of good governance. I note with satisfaction the good practices revealed in the Review Report; Cote d'Ivoire will be more than happy to share them with other African countries”, he said.
He added that by allowing Cote d'Ivoire to join APRM in 2015, the President of the Republic intended to bring the country up to international governance standards. His ambition, he said, was to put the country on the rails of economic development and progress.

He further assured that the necessary reforms to be undertaken would make it possible to maintain macro-economic stability and social progress for the well-being of the people of Cote d’Ivoire.
It should be recalled that the APRM was created in March 2003 as a monitoring mechanism, whose mandate is to foster good governance, and to which the African Union Member States adhere voluntarily. Its main objective is to promote the adoption of policies that lead to strong economic growth and sustainable development.
