- BACKGROUND
The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) National Secretariat has developed the African Principles and Guidelines on Corporate Governance. This project is the first of its kind on the African Continent and it is designed to address and improve Corporate Governance standards and practices in Africa, both in the private sector and public sectors. The project has been undertaken in recognition of the fact that the existing challenges within member states regarding corporate governance in Africa, require a solution that addresses the unique challenges facing the private sector on the continent. As such, the African Principles converge with African realities and are cognisant of the unique African socio-cultural dynamics and commercial environments that exist in Africa.
APRM seeks the services of a highly skilled Communications and Public Relations Consultant to mobilize relevant stakeholders including policymakers, regulators and the private sector, to become aware of the African Principles and to engage on the unique elements and applicability of the Principles in Africa and globally.
- OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT
The objective of the project is to procure a Communications/Media/Public Relations Consultant with relevant experience to maximize the impact of APRM communications to member states, development partners, the private sector, regulators, policymakers, financial journalists and other stakeholders. The Consultant is expected to develop and implement a comprehensive media/pr strategy that ensures broad visibility and effective dissemination of key messages related to the African Principles and Guidelines on Corporate Governance.
- DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT AND LOCATION
The consultant will be required to work for an overall period of two (2) months, of which 10 days will be on-site in Johannesburg, South Africa and other days remotely but available for consultations when necessary.
- EDUCATION AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants MUST demonstrate that they have i) Bachelor’s degree in either Public Relations and/or, Marketing and/or, Journalism and/or Communication or Media studies and ten (10) years of relevant experience, including in Africa.
- ii) Previous work experience with any African Union (AU) Organ or a multilateral institution or international organisation.
- iii) Proven experience in international and African media engagement for high-level political and economic subjects.
- iv) Experience in digital media strategy and social media amplification.
- v) Strong networks within global and African media landscapes.
- vi) Excellent writing and communication skills in English (Additional AU languages are an asset).
- vii) Provide a record of participating in at least 2 assignments of similar size and degree of complexity with an international organization

(ix) Up-to-date Certified Curriculum Vitae and supporting professional & relevant academic documents and three referees. Only Shortlisted Candidates shall be issued with the Terms of Reference (TORS)
