Midrand, South Africa, 01 October 2024 – The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Damien Thesee as Chief of Staff at the APRM Continental Secretariat, effective today.
With over 15 years of extensive experience in public finance and administration, Mr. Thesee brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will be invaluable to the organization.
Mr. Thesee holds a Master’s degree in International Development Policy from Duke University, focusing on Public Financial Management and International Taxation. His academic background is complemented by a Master’s in Leadership and Strategy from the Institute of Public Administration in Ireland, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economic and Social Studies from the University of Manchester, specializing in Accounting & Finance.
His professional journey includes senior management roles in the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Seychelles, where he has successfully led numerous public financial management and tax reforms. Prior to joining the APRM, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Services Authority, overseeing the regulation and supervision of the non-bank financial services sector in Seychelles. His leadership capabilities were further demonstrated during his tenure as Principal Secretary for Finance, where he was responsible for fiscal management and policy formulation for the country.
Fluent in English, French, and Creole, Mr. Thesee’s multilingual abilities will enhance communication within the diverse APRM community and Africa at large.
In his new role, Mr. Thesee will be instrumental in supporting the CEO in strategic initiatives and operational excellence, ensuring that the APRM continues to advance its mission of promoting good governance and socio-economic development across the continent.
