27 May 2024, Midrand - The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Continental Secretariat hosted a handover ceremony at the occasion of which Prof Eddy Maloka, the outgoing CEO welcomed the incoming CEO, Amb. Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre. In accordance with AU Rules and Regulations, the outgoing CEO, Prof Eddy Maloka, submitted his handover report, the APRM Flag as well as the APRM legal instruments.
Ambassador Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the APRM at the 37th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She will be leading the APRM Continental Secretariat for a term of four (4) years, renewable once.
The handover ceremony was attended by all APRM Continental Secretariat Directors, senior management and all staff members.
In his address, Prof Eddy Maloka recalled the Continental Secretariat’s humble beginnings, its journey to integration into the African Union, its 44 member states and countless other achievements. At this juncture, he also emphasised on the dedication of the staff in the pursuit of these achievements. As he concluded, Prof Eddy Maloka encouraged the staff to extend the same commitment to the incoming CEO, Amb. Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre; and to continue demonstrating the same vigour in delivering the mandate of the APRM in this new era of leadership.
As she received the baton from Prof Eddy Maloka, Ambassador Rose-Quatre acknowledged Prof Eddy Maloka’s dedication, focus, and sacrifices in transforming the APRM and putting it on the map. She further expressed her gratitude for his facilitation of a smooth transition. Lastly, she also invited the staff to “take the APRM from strength to strength together and reach new heights by overcoming our doubts, facing our fears and being intentional in our actions” as they enter into the new chapter of the mechanism.
Ambassador Rose-Quatre was then ushered through APRM offices for a tour as well as a “meet and greet” with all staff of the Continental Secretariat. The tour concluded around a meal shared with all staff. In line with the Assembly Decision of February 2024, the new CEO of the APRM Continental Secretariat, Amb. Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre will assume her functions from Monday 3rd of June 2024.
