Midrand, South Africa – July 8, 2025 – The Chief Executive Officer of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), H.E. Ambassador Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre, received H.E. Ambassador Ali Achoui, the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Republic of South Africa, during a courtesy visit to the APRM Continental Secretariat in Midrand, Johannesburg.
Ambassador Achoui reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering support for the APRM’s mission to promote and enhance good governance across the African continent. The two dignitaries engaged in constructive discussions on strategies to ensure that the APRM delivers on its mandate with greater impact and measurable results.
Ambassador Rose-Quatre expressed sincere appreciation for Algeria’s continued commitment to the APRM’s principles and processes, recognizing Algeria’s vital role as a founding Member State and the current Chair of the Mechanism. She commended Algeria’s ongoing leadership and its contributions to the advancement of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, particularly in the context of the Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan.
“Algeria’s steadfast support is invaluable to the work of the APRM. We are confident that, through our strengthened collaboration, we can make significant strides in fostering political, economic, and corporate governance for the benefit of all Africans,” said Ambassador Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre.
In response, Ambassador Achoui reaffirmed Algeria’s firm belief in the APRM’s mandate and its effectiveness as a strategic tool for entrenching democracy and good governance on the continent. He reiterated Algeria’s readiness to strengthen its engagement with the Mechanism and to continue playing a leading role in shaping “The Africa We Want.”
The courtesy visit concluded with a mutual understanding to maintain close collaboration between the APRM Secretariat and the Algerian Embassy to ensure the continued success of APRM activities. The visit underscored the enduring commitment of the Government and people of Algeria to the vision and mission of the African Peer Review Mechanism.
