Johannesburg, South Africa, November 16, 2024: The Swearing-In Ceremony of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Continental Secretariat Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Marie-Antoinette Rose Quatre, will be held in on 20 November 2024, in Algiers, Algeria. The Swearing In Ceremony is pursuant to Decision Assembly/AU/Dec.887(XXXVII) of the 37th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government (Assembly) held from 17 to 18 February 2024, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Assembly through Assembly/AU/Dec.887(XXXVII), “took note of the recommendation of the Committee of Heads of State and Government of Participating States of the APRM on the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the APRM Continental Secretariat and decided to appoint Ambassador Marie Antoinette Rose-Quatre as CEO of APRM Continental Secretariat for a term of four (4) years renewable once. The Assembly further decided that the appointment is with effect from 3 June 2024 and directed the APRM Secretariat, in collaboration with the AU Commission, to organize the swearing-in of the newly appointed CEO.
H.E Abdelmajid Tebboune, President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and Chairperson of the African Peer Review Forum of Heads of State and Government will preside over the Swearing-In Ceremony. Prof. Hajer GUELDICH, Legal Counsel of the African Union will administer the oath of office.
Ambassador Marie Antoinette Rose-Quatre is the first female CEO of the APRM Continental Secretariat. Her appointment unequivocally demonstrates the APR Forum and Assembly firm and steadfast commitment to gender equality at the highest levels of the African Union.
Since her assumption of duty on June 3, 2024, Ambassador Rose Quatre has exerted considerable effort effected guided by the 3P Strategy of Professionalism, Performance and Probity aimed at repositioning the APRM to deliver on its mandate with impact and tangible results.
She has also exerted considerable efforts to improve the institution's visibility, efficiency, so as to ensure delivery of the APRM mandate with impact and tangible results. These efforts include strengthening engagement with African Union Member States and its institutions, APRM structures, AU strategic partners, civil society organizations to address critical governance challenges with impact.
